Zia
Mojabi is an
LA-based stage and screen writer. His
writing career began at college in
Cambridge, England, where he wrote and directed sketch comedies for the
campus company. He also directed the alumni productions of a few British
stage standards while at Birmingham University. After getting his degree, he
moved to Spain, working at Madrids prestigious Filmoteca Nacional while
studying film theory, polishing his Spanish and co-writing with various
Madrid writers.
He later emigrated to Canada where he wrote and directed
some experimental shorts and
one teleplay for the Toronto-based
CableNet
which won him
the CableNet
award.
In
the early 90s he
moved to LA to fully focus on the business and pleasures
of writing and directing movies. In addition to his writing-directing
career, he is also the senior vice president of Nielsen Entertainment, the
premier motion picture research and marketing firm where he works closely
with all the major and mini-major studios in town. |

| DARK WORLD: a feature length murder-mystery thriller written and directed by Zia. Soon to be available through domestic and international outlets. | ||||||||||
| REASONABLE DOUBT: a suspense/thriller screenplay, script by Zia Mojabi, based on an original story by Joseph Farrell, commissioned by FP Ventures, a Disney-based production company, completed June 04, scheduled for production in 07. | ||||||||||
| FUNNY MAN: a darkly comical murder-mystery spec screenplay, script and story by Zia, currently under option by The Syndicate. | ||||||||||
| WOMAN ON FIRE (writer/director): A feature film based on the Greek tragedy Medea. Winner: "Best Feature, Drama" at the New York International Independent Film Festival. Received a special citation at the MEMPHIS International FILM FESTIVAL. | ||||||||||
| THE MEETING (writer/director): A political play in two acts for the stage which enjoyed a long run in Los Angeles, then toured San Francisco, Houston, Chicago, Washington, Vancouver and Toronto. | ||||||||||
| LOVE and OTHER MINOR LIES (writer/director): A romantic comedy play in two acts which opened in the Morgen Vixen Theater in Los Angeles. | ||||||||||
| THE QUARTET (writer): A two-act play chosen as the annual project to be produced at the First Stage Theater workshop in Hollywood. | ||||||||||
| TWAS A DARK AND STORMY NIGHT: a romantic comedy stage play in two acts, written and directed by Zia. Ran in Los Angeles in 98 before traveling to key North American cities. | ||||||||||
